Explore the fascinating past of the harbour town of Arbon, from the pile dwellers to the Saurer family

The public city tour guides guests through the eventful history of the harbour town of Arbon: from the pile dwellers of the Neolithic Age to the extraordinary industrial pioneers of the Saurer family, right up to the present day.

The extremely rich history of Arbon is given a voice by town guides. As early as the Neolithic period, around 3000 BC, there was a pile-dwelling settlement on what is now Arbon. The Romans arrived and left behind parts of a town wall, towers and more. Arbon-based Adolf Saurer AG was the most important Swiss manufacturer of lorries for a long time. Participants can learn this and more on the public guided tours through the historic town from mid-June to mid-September.
